The Ford Dealers of Western New York will continue to give the gift of transportation to local not-for-profit organizations through its annual Ford Friendship Express program. Now in its 13th year, the program has awarded 55 vans valued at over $1 million. Charities from within the eight counties of Western New York and two counties in Northern Pennsylvania can apply by March 7, 2008. Van recipients will be announced during the summer of 2008.

"Western New York is the city of good neighbors, which is why we're proud to give back to this community," said Scott Bieler, chairman of the Ford Friendship Express Selection Committee. "The Ford Friendship Express program provides deserving organizations with an essential need - transportation. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing the van recipients drive off with smiles on their faces."

Past recipients include Meals on Wheels of Buffalo and Erie County, Friends of the Night People, St. Luke's Mission of Mercy, Old First Ward Community Association, Aurora Adult Day Services, Camp Good Days & Special Times, the American Red Cross and The Buffalo Zoo. The 2007 recipients were Kids Escaping Drugs (KED), and Skating Athletes Bold at Heart (SABAH).

Eligible candidates must be not-for-profit organizations located and operating in the area coinciding with the Western New York Ford Dealers. The Western New York Ford Stores is an advertising cooperative comprised of 39 dealer locations which provides support for Ford vehicle sales and service in the 13 counties of Western New York and two counties in Northern Pennsylvania.
