So, on August 26th, 2009, who do you think earned the top album sold on iTunes?  Was it Kings of Leon with "Only By the Night?"  How about "Breakthrough" by Colbie Caillat?  Erroneous, on both counts.

Ingrid Michaelson, who topped the chart last August, will take the Lafayette Square stage this Thursday, fresh off her performance alongside Dave Matthews Band, Stevie Wonder, Jay-Z, and Kings of Leon at Tennessee's Bonnaroo Festival. 

Michaelson will perform hits from her famed album on iTunes, "Everybody," including recent favorite "Maybe."  Expect to hear her most popular tracks - "The Way I Am" off her 2007 album "Girls and Boys," which may sound familiar from an Old Navy commercial, and "Keep Breathing," which featured on the season finale of Grey's Anatomy the same year. 

Bonnaroo.com inquired about the meaning behind Michaelson's album; the New York based artist said, "[The album is] almost a loss of innocence. I’m 29 years old and I shouldn’t worry if my mom and dad know that I kissed a boy from listening to one of my songs, but I remember on my first album I was like, 'Can I say that?'"  You can say it, Ingrid, you can say it.

Her sound is described as "smart, pensive, yet poppy."  Who knew that "poppy" and "smart" weren't mutually exclusive?  Ingrid must be a real pioneer.

Can Michaelson live up to the standard set by Tift Merritt and Alejandro Escovedo last Thursday?  We think so, but we suggest that you see it in person, not only because she's arguably the most attractive woman named Ingrid in the world, but because Buffalo.com will be there to snap your photo (and provide concession tickets!).
