You know, if someone had said five or six years ago that Kings of Leon would someday be one of the biggest bands in the land, playing the summer amphitheater circuit, and that they'd be hauling Pacific Northwest rock icons Built to Spill and cult favorites The Stills along with them, most people would have said...well, I don't know what most people would have said, because most people hadn't heard of any of those bands. How times change! It seems so long ago that Kings of Leon - those grungy, country, guitar-rocking indie kids straight out of a Flannery O'Connor story - were simply known as "the Southern Strokes" and had an inexplicably huge following in England. Catch the Kings tonight at 7:30 PM at the Darien Lake Performing Arts Center (9993 Alleghany Road, Darien Center). Remaining tickets on the lawn start at $36.50.
