No Stopping Hit-N-Run at Club Paradise 2.6.10

Wow. You want to talk about a band who gives their all? Hit-N-Run played at Club Paradise for the PBA, and then the doors opened to the public at 930pm and they picked up and did it all over again.

Coined, 'Buffalo and WNY's premier party band,' they had the crowd on their feet and booties were shaking all night long, as they went on cruise control and drove thru the 80s with a common milestone, 'Pour Some Sugar on Me,' going into musical reverse int time with 'Margaritaville' and 'Sweet Caroline' later bounced back to visit  the likes of Journey, Styx, and Quiet Riot. A little something for everyone. They live up to their tagline.

They have their own following too, it was fun seeing the recognitions between the band and their 'regulars', their friends.

hit-n-runBy about 1am, vocalist Mark Valentino let us know he was starting to run low on voice... and still took audience birthday requests, I thought it was a mean request for a tired vocalist; Journey, Separate Ways. And they played it, and Mark gave it his all and pulled it off. I could all but feel his pain as he poured every last ounce of strength into hitting those notes. Kudos, Mark.

The band was visibly exhausted to me, and I really admire how they didn't let up, and kept it coming hot and heavy,  hit after hit, with only one intermission the entire night, and kept their audience on their feet, singing, swinging and smiling til just after 2am.

Well done, guys and gal. I came in with high expectations and they were indeed met and exceeded by Hit-N-Run's energy, interaction, showmanship and sheer endurance.

Club Paradise is hosting the EXPOSURE concert to expose domestic violence and abuse August 14-15. So far we have 19 confirmed bands and are accepting more. We are working together to have an outdoor stage running the same as indoor concerts will be playing.  Its going to be a real moving event - make sure you don't miss this one! www.opmusichouse.org for details. Tickets are not on sale yet but early-bird specials will be offered at the OP Music House booth of the Community Workplace and Job Fair March 6 all day at the Orchard Park High School. hit-n-run

Please check out my work: Google 'Suzanne Perry' and 'violence' - I write to educate and hopefully prevent abuse in the home. I am a regular here on mybuffalo.com and the Examiner.com. I am a survivor and understand - I now reach out to help those affected. The OP Music House & ICE Cafe is founded for all impacted by domestic abuse.

I read that after the superbowl, abuse increases. Come on people. Only insecure people feed from controlling (belittling) others. Get a grip on your own self, think before you act. Nobody deserves it, it's NOT okay.

Be good to each other.  Love should not hurt.

  • The whole band rocked out, I thought the review was very positive, was my first time meeting Taz and all of them, I was very excited to be a part of that night. My apologies for not naming the other band members and rather used the word "they", I will be more direct and address naming names in future reviews. I totally thought each band member completely rocked out --- they all went virtually non-stop all day. It was a pleasure to meet them and I personally and whole-heartedly complimented each one after the show. I posted ample photos of each band member as well. Rock on!

  • So Mark is the only person on stage that was tired that night?  What about the 5 other people on stage that played just as long? They don't need to be acknowledged?  As per usual it's all about Mark.

I was at that show from start to finish and I can tell you that Hit N Run did pull out all the stops. 2 sets with only one break was mind blowing. I don't know how they do it!  But there were 6 people on stage - NOT ONE!! So I guess I will give props to the rest of the band seeing as you only focused on one person.

Kelly - Great job as always! You killed on the Heart tune. I (and quite a few of my friends) personally think Kelly needs to sing more songs during a show. She has an amazing voice and should be singing more than she does. But it's all about Mark.

Mike - 100% energy and he even sang a ACDC tune near the end of the night so that would get more votes from me. It's not exactly a song that is easy to sing but he pulled it off. Way better than Mark pulled off Seperate Ways as you mentioned.  Speaking of that song...

Taz - Never in my life have I seen a drummer like Taz. Local band or famous. The guy never stops. He's back there giving 110% every night, ALL NIGHT! You want to give kudos to Mark for lasting all night, well this IS THE GUY that should get them. 1 break all night and he was high energy from start to finish with arms swinging all over the place and the double kick that just knocks you in the chest! And this guy has a back injury?  You'd never now it.

Dan - Another high energy player and I love the head-banging dude! You totally pull off the Randy Roads solo in Crazy Train note for note. One of the best in Buffalo.  And another guy that was on stage all night that didn't even get a photo credit in this article.

Keyboard Player - Sorry but his name escapes me at the moment, but here's a guy who plays an old Hammond on stage along with 3 or 4 more keyboards. Are you kidding me??? Nobody in the area would even think of hauling that thing around. And even though you're only the keyboard player, you run around with the harmonica through the crowd, bang on cowbells, play that rattle snake sounding thing, and guitar. Another person on stage that didn't get mentioned.

And I heard recently that the band is changing members. Sad!!!!! It won't be the same without Mike Taz and Bruce. Good luck in your future guys. We'll just have to wait and see what Hit N Run will be like after the move.  But seeing as it's all about Mark, I guess it doesn't really matter who he gets.

    Rock on!
