This Audio track (albeit somewhat poor quality - as it came off a camera) is of  Dr. Jazz and the Gypsy Boys--one of the three lives bands at Rhythm Shuffle (see below).  This song, "I Ain't Got Nobody" is smooth and blissfully danceable, perfect for some playful bal or fun lindy.  Dr. Jazz and the Gypsy Boys are a unique, all Buffalo band.  You won't hear them anywhere else.  We assembled them for a second time to perform two nights at Rhythm Shuffle.  This combination of musicians were hand-picked by Lindy Hoppers here in Buffalo. If you want to hear them, you'll just have to come to the workshop!  They don't have a website and they don't have any recorded music.  This is it!  Register today for your chance to experience this unique one-time only event!  It's only 3 weeks away and the price at the door is higher than the pre-sale price, so don't miss out on the savings!  This is going to be two incredible live performances and 3 nights of social dancing that you won't ever forget!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—On September 17th through the 19th, Swing Buffalo is hosting its third annual lindy hop and balboa workshop, Rhythm Shuffle, at the beautiful Polish Cadets Hall at the corner of Grant and Amherst Sts! International swing dance champions, Bobby White and Kate Hedin, (bobbykate.com) will provide all-day instruction on both Saturday in the art of lindy hop and Sunday in the art of balboa, two forms of swing dancing popular in the 1930s. This exciting weekend will start off at 8:00 p.m. on Friday night, with a crash course in swing dancing to get you out on the floor! Following, there will be a social dance at 8:30 p.m. with two live bands: Reverend Soapbox and the Rabble Rousers will start us off, and Dr. Jazz and the Gypsy Boys will take it home!

Classes will continue Saturday the 18th, starting at 10:15 a.m. and feature two “tracks,” one series of classes will be beginner level—that’s right no experience necessary, while the other series of classes will be for the more experienced dancer. Both Saturday and Sunday will feature two tracks with Bobby and Kate, as well as guest instructors, Mike Thibault, Jesse Hanus and Jojo Jackson visiting from Groove Juice Swing of Rochester.

Both Saturday and Sunday nights will feature social dances with special guest DJs from Nashville, TN and Cleveland, OH, and on Saturday, Dr. Jazz and the Gypsy Boys will come back for more—they can really swing! The classes and dances will take place at the Polish Cadets Hall, an air-conditioned venue with a large and fast wooden dance floor. Also, after the dances on Friday and Saturday, there will be late-night blues parties—at which 3 of a Kind will be playing live blues music for some more sultry dancing on Saturday night…

An amazing feature of this workshop is that there is a single registration fee that covers the entire weekend.  Also, each and every class or dance can be paid for individually at the door for $15 each. No partner necessary, no experience necessary, so go to RhythmShuffle.com and register today!

  • Peter Wolf Crier's "Hard As Na Peter Wolf Crier's "Hard As Nails"

    • From: MyBuffaloDotCom
    • Description:

"Hard As Nails" is a single from the indie pop band Peter Wolf Crier's debut album.

Peter Wolf Crier comes to the Ninth Ward on Sunday, June 13 with a special guest. Doors are at 7pm and the show starts at 8pm. Tickets are $11.00 and are available through all Tickets.com outlets including the Babeville box office, all Tops markets, online at tickets.com or by phoning 888-223-6000.

Peter Wolf Crier is the Minneapolis-based duo of Peter Pisano and Brian Moen. A teacher by day and a musician by night, Pisano was a member of Wisconsin quartet the Wars of 1812. While the band was on hiatus, Pisano continued to write and met Moen, a seasoned drummer and engineer best known for his involvement in Laarks and Amateur Love, two Eau Claire based bands. After being asked to add some percussive elements, Moen added his thundering drum rolls and perfectly timed fills, but he also added something much more: a melodic soundscape that would complete the evolution of the songs. So was born the partnership that is called Peter Wolf Crier.

  • Ben & Ben Sports Assault 5-27: Ben & Ben Sports Assault 5-27: Part III - New England Pats Preview

    • From: Tsuj10
    • Description:

In the final segment of the pod, Ben & Ben comment on the Buffalo Bills' Week 3 opponent, the hated New England Patriots.  We talk less about Tom Brady and more about the Pats' draft picks, the health of Wes Welker, and Ben K.'s man-love for Rob Gronkowski.  Why does Ben T. think New England's running game, an afterthought for much of 2009, will rebound this coming year?

Here's the World Cup preview for the casual soccer fan, compliments of the Ben & Ben Sports Assault.

Although Ben T. (me) is referred to as the 'Soccer Sherpa,' I mistakenly claim that Didier Drogba plays for Ghana - the Chelsea forward actually represents the Ivory Coast.  I think I confused him briefly with Michael Essien, the Ghanaian star midfielder who will miss the World Cup due to injury complications.  Anyhow, I apologize for the misinformation.  A true blunder!

  • Ben & Ben Sports Assault 5-19- Ben & Ben Sports Assault 5-19-10: LeBron's Destination, Fantasy baseball buys and sells, previewing the Packers

    • From: bkirst
    • Description:

Ben and Ben are back at Orchard Perk Cafe for possibly their last visit - BIG MOVES ARE AFOOT FOR ONE OF THE BENS - and they're talking all sorts of crazy junk.  First up is a spirited debate on leBron James' final destination (and i really isn't as morbid as that sounds), followed by a look at some MLBers all you fantasy players should buy low and sell high on.  Wrapping up the podcast is a look at the Buffalo Bills' second opponent of the 2010 season, the Green Bay Packers.  Warning - Ben K. gets kind of distracted at this point.  But it's all wildly entertaining, I assure you.

  • Ben & Ben Sports Assault 5-6-1 Ben & Ben Sports Assault 5-6-10: Red Sox recovery, wondering if the Mets are for real, and a look at the Miami Dolphins

    • From: bkirst
    • Description:

Ben & Ben talk some baseball, wondering aloud if the Boston Red Sox can recover from their very average start (and an average start in the brutal AL East is like getting hit over the head with a shovel) and if the New York Mets can maintain their fairly surprising start (surprising because they don't completely suck).  Swinging the conversation to the NFL, Ben & Ben begin their look at the Buffalo Bills' 2010 opponents, starting with the season-opening rival Miami Dolphins.  A good time is had by all.

    • From: bkirst
    • Description:

Sick of NFL Draft talk?  Ben & Ben are not.  Listen as the powerhouse podcasters break down the Buffalo Bills' 2010 draft, then consider the strength of the new-look AFC East.  Are the Jets top dog?  How about those dangerous Dolphins?  Has the sun set on the Belichek dynasty?  Is that same sun rising on 1 Bills Drive?  Are those pigs flying over there?  After all the red-hot football talk, cool down with a quick baseball overview of the National League contenders, pretenders, and fender-benders (I am looking at you, Dodgers bullpen).
